Today, I nearly got written up at work for missing an important memo. The memo was sent to everyone via the company Facebook group and not by our e-mail system. My manager could hardly believe people exist who have no Facebook account and have no intention of making one. FML

tell your boss he needs to send it via FML

Your boss seems very unprofessional. Honestly, a company relying on Facebook messenger to keep employees in contact does not seem all too appealing to work for.

Create a "work" facebook account with nothing but your name and work email address. Set maximum privacy on everything, nothing viewable by anyone other than yourself. Join the company "group" with it. Check it only at work, and only from your work computer or work-provided cell/tablet, if applicable. Problem solved.

what company uses Facebook over email? that seems strange

Definitely not your fault. Anything work related, especially if it's important, should be sent through the company e-mail system to ensure that everyone gets it.

Face book always seems to create drama and that is why I have no desire for one.

I think it's just certain people who use Facebook and not the website itself. I keep mine to keep in contact with friends and family, and I stay out of drama simply by not engaging. It's pretty easily done.

I deactivated mine in May. I have no intentions of going back.

I don't have Facebook and never will! If someone wants me they can be decent and call me. As for work I have a work email to receive work related stuff

I know what you mean. Where's the law that says you have to be on Facebook?
