If he's the sort of person to finish sentences with 'just sayin'' in real, actual life then you don't need his sympathy anyway, he sounds like a twit.
He clearly doesn't have a pet...
People will always have comments after having a pet pass away. We said goodbye to our dog of 14 years and it was easily one of the most painful experiences of my life. Some people just don't understand. I'm sorry to hear about your dog, OP. Sending lots of love! x
What if it was someone's Mom or Dad though? There's tons of people we love without "making love"
Your friend sounds like a sociopath.
That is cold hearted. Dogs are family members. And if his uneducated pea brain can't understand someone getting upset over a family member dying and not only caring about someone if they're having sex, that sucks for him.
Actually, many people mourn pets with more emotion than a human death because in a lot of ways, pets are seen as innocence. The loss of innocence is similar to a child's death, and it's one of the most painful experiences someone can endure
I had one year where I literally lost everything but the roof over my head. By the end of it I was in constant pain, living with undiagnosed PTSD, $20k in debt, suicidal, and had just left an abusive ex. The ONLY part of that timespan that I still can't even think about for too long without crying was suddenly losing my pet. Pets are like kids. Some days I almost prefer them to the people I meet. Anybody who thinks it's possible for one's death to matter too much to their owner has no idea what the **** they're talking about.
I cried a lot when I went with my girlfriend to put down her dog. **** him

What an asshole, dogs and pets in general are basically best friends to the owners so I would be surprised if someone didn't get upset over theirs dying
Sorry for your loss OP :(
