Today, I paid top dollar for an Italian soda that ended up consisting almost entirely of ice. When I complained, the girl insisted that the soda water stopped the ice from melting. She said she didn't see what the problem was, and threatened to have me thrown out if I didn't "simmer down." FML

illl show that b*** how to simmer down!!

Pray tell, what's an "Italian soda"? Also seeing as you live in California and pay "top dollar" for things, the odds of you being stupid and/or unreasonable are very high.

Any bar tender who packs the glass with ice is obviously well trained and sensible, its the general public who are idiots. You put a little ice and lots of liquid and the ice melts-diluting the drink as water is warmer then ice. Lots of ice actually cools down the liquid, as anyone who is either a bar tender or has studies basic physics would know.

Ok...I'm confused. Since you're the expert maybe you can help me out. What's the difference between a little bit of ice melting fast and diluting a lot of liquid...or a lot of ice melting a little and diluting a very small amount of liquid?

Well then I'm sorry for being one of the ignorant general public. I ask for half a glass of ice for my soda's (italian or otherwise). I tell them that if they can't fix it that way for me, I am more than capable of going to the bar and fixing it myself. It gets done right every time :)

Oh don't apologise to that dumb-ass...he has no idea what the hell he's talking about. The only reason for packing a drink with ice is to increase profit margins by giving the customer less of what they are actually paying for.

Actually, no matter how little ice there is, it is physically impossible for the temperature of the drink to be above the temperature of the ice so long as the ice isn't completely melted. The ice, no matter how much of it, melts at the same rate at the same time. Chemistry 101.

YDI for paying top dollar for "Italian soda" smh

I'm fairly certain that an Italian soda is supposed to have a lot of ice. Therefore your complaint is invalid.

Next time, just ask for no ice.
