Today, I picked up on a telemarketer and started speaking in Portuguese. It turns out that this particular telemarketer spoke it as well. Every time I hung up, he called back. Telemarketers get really excited when they find out someone else speaks their language. FML

I always answer with, "Fresno City Morgue, you stab 'em, we slab 'em!" They hang up fast. Or just start sobbing and tell them that they're the only one who understands you, and beg them not to hang up. When you're done messing with them, ask them when the suicide hotline started making preventative calls.

LOL should have spoke to him in Chinese.

I always tell them "no thank you" and just quietly hang up. If they keep calling, I ask for a supervisor and politely request that they put me on their "do not call list". Since the do not call list is a legal requirement they have to put you on it when you request it. Here's the funny part.... I don't get telemarketer calls and I don't treat another human being like shit.

Has anyone here heard the "howler tone"... on some phone systems it happens when you leave your phone off the hook too long, and you can hear it across the room. I want to make a howler tone machine to use against telemarketers.

not being racists but it is probably some brazilian I'm from portugal and not many portuguese people would do that. brazilian people are more "social" than us

I LOLed so hard as I read this... while on the phone.. with a customer... because I am a telemarketer.

I don't mean to sound dumb but what's a telemarketer

lol then you, my friend, are the luckiest person in the world. telemarkerters are people who call up every number they possibly can trying to sell you something, usually a scam. and they're almost always foreign with a really heavy accent. on top of that, they alway seem to have a way of calling at the worst times.
