Today, I realized my wedding ring had fallen off while doing yard work the previous day. Luckily, I only worked in a few areas, so I had high hopes of finding it. That is until a storm came through, blew half a foot of leaves all over the property, and then froze them with sleet. FML

OP here! The ring had always been so tight that I couldn't get it off, but I guess loosing baby weight combined with the cold weather, my finger shrunk enough. I agree with commenters... I found it extremely odd that I didn't notice... Maybe a case of missing limb syndrome but with a ring? Anyhow, after spending a morning raking the leaves in freezing rain, I FOUND IT! An FML win! (Oh, and #55 sleet does freeze leaves when you live in Texas and the ground is warm enough to melt the sleet but the wind cold enough to re-freeze it. But we can compromise and say we are both right because it has been alternating between freezing rain and sleet for a little while now). WIN!

sleet doesn't freeze over leaves. freezing rain does.

Look on the bright side: in 500 years, an archeologist might find a treasure in your garden.

was this in Illinois?? that damn stormed was a meanie.

Texas has even crazier winter storms. Not because they're more intense in themselves, but because nobody around here can deal with them.

It would be in your best interest to get it resized. The last thing you want is another incident of this sort!

Yeah but what if she has another baby, and her fingers swell during the pregnancy?

I suggest just keeping an eye on the ring rather than having to pay for getting it resized. I'm sure it will be easier to remember to look and see if it's on your finger because of this incident.

To #65 And when she loses the weight after that? It would be better to have a tight ring rather than a loose ring. You could lose it easily like op did here, and she may not get so lucky as to find it again. If it's too tight she can put it in a safe place for a while. But anyway congrats on finding it again op!

Put some string or ribbon or something inside the ring when you wear it, if you don't want to resize it. That should help it stay on better

Alrighty then woohoo for find your ring. And the fact that auto correct didn't try to change woohoo.

You should probably get it resized so you don't lose it again, you might not be this lucky the second time around. If you decide to have another baby, you could always wear it on a chain for a while, as a necklace. Congrats on the kid though :)

when I had an issue with my ring being loose after a few medical issues I'd had I tied some string around th ring and around my finger so even if it slipped it'd not fall entirely off

There's many times my rings have fallen off my fingers without me noticing. Usually it's when I'm in a hurry to catch my bus, then I notice it's not there when I go to spin it around my finger. Thankfully they've only fallen off around the house.

That's so awesome that you found the ring! I remember reading this and thinking, "poor lady, that really sucks," and hoping that you found it. Good for you! :D

South Texas streets never freeze lol well soem time

Glad you found it. I suggest getting it resized.

It took you 24 hours to realize your wedding ring was gone!?

I'm from Texas too and she is right about freezing and re-freezing. It's 25 and very windy right now. Brrrrr!
