Today, I realized that my father's weekly unemployment check is more than my bi-weekly pay check. My full time job pays less than my father's unemployment. FML

My sister makes more with unemployment than I make with an actual job....it's just stupid.

Sounds like somebody doesn't understand how unemployment works.

obviously, people don't know how unemployment works. Same thing happened to many people way before obama came into office.

You are probably young and don't have a career yet...it's nothing to be upset about. I'm sure your dad has been working for the past 30 years + of his life. Until I was 22, I was making no more than $325 a week. Either of my parents unemployment checks would have been more than that.

So, you're mad because your dad made more than you BEFORE he got unemployed? Would you rather that you make more than your dad? Because i'm fairly sure you wouldn't be able to make ends meet if that were true. The only way this is an FML is if you make like $50 an hour or something. And even then, that means your dad was really raking in the dough before he got laid off. Not an FML at all. You should be happy your dad had a good job before getting laid off. More like F your dads life for not having a job.

yeah some countries really have messed up that part, they should raise minimum wages instead of given people money for sitting on a couch al day...

I got laid off in February. I get the maximum payout in unemployment because I was a paralegal for over 15 years. I made good money. However, what I bring home in a month on unemployment is less than half of what I used to make. It's not worth it. Now, because the market sucks, I can't find a job making MORE than my unemployment. I bring home more in unemployment than my mother in law does at her job at a cashier at a supermarket but that's the kinds of jobs she has chose to work for 55+ years.

He most likely made a lot more money than you before he went unemployed but still, FYL dude.

Happens...let your age and experience pas a lill bit, u'll get over it and earn more than ur dad!
