Today, I received a $50 iTunes card for my birthday. I immediately sat down at my computer and starting buying all my newest favorites. Then I realized I never redeemed my card so the $50 was all charged to my account. FML

Easy fix, sell the card for what it's worth, then use that money to pay off the account charges. You lose no money, and the card was made useful.

YDI for using scam-tunes in the first place.

hahah sounds like something I'd do, too exciting for new music, eyy..?!

YDI for buying itunes. $50 will get you 5 months on rhapsody with 12 million tracks. You'll be sick of those tracks you bought by then.

Except that with Rhapsody, you don't own the music you download, so if you ever cancel your subscription, you can't listen to a single song. That means you could pay hundreds of dollars and end up with nothing. Know what happens if you spend any money whatsoever on iTunes? You have that music forever. And some people DON'T get sick of the music they like, and actually want to be able to listen to them for more than a few months. Point to iTunes (or any non-subscription based download service).

Ugh I've done that, but my mom went ballistic because it's her card on the account :/

That's dirtier than Hitler's kill/death ratio
