I work at a vets office and i can tell you that the vet has to diagnose a problem with the animal and it has to be a non treatable ongoing problem for the vet to put any animal down. You can call the office and they have to tell you the reason for the euthanasia. I know how hard it is to have to deal with this and I'm really sorry this happened so early in your dogs life... What type of dog was it?

Think you should set all your moms clothes on fire in the garden and when she freaks out about it ask her what happend to your dog. Even if she had the dog put down for its own good then atleast she could have informed you before doing so.

You can call the vet. and find out what happened. To others, yes they will put down a dog without you there, I was out of town when one of my dogs became terminally ill, and had to be put to sleep. I was happy they did it because she was in terrible pain and a relative was able to have it done while I wasn't there. I have a number of pets. If anyone killed any of them maliciously...I honestly don't know what I would do to them. The very *least* would be NEVER speaking to them again.

haha i'm with #66 if you decide to stay in touch. that might be it for me. my parents did this to the family dog when i was 15 because he snapped at my brother once, and my brother was like pulling his tail and fur. He never bit anybody and he wasn't going to. He tolerated a lot of shit before he snapped, and it wasn't even super threatening, it was just "hey leave me alone". I still have not forgiven them and i probably never will. so that said..call the vet and find out what happened, then if it turns out your mom is guilty of harming the dog report her for animal abuse and animal cruelty, then either disown the bitch or do what #66 said. if it turns out something happened and she couldn't be bothered to tell you, i'd be pissed, but i might forgive her eventually, after i conveniently forget to tell her a few very important things.

i don't think you can assume it's your mom maybe she just didn't want to tell you the dog was sick because you'd be upset.

When I was very young, my kitten was run over by a car because it had escaped. I was at girl scouts at the time. My parents beat around the bush for days because they didn't want to make me sad. They didn't like the cat, it clawed things, but they would not have had it asasinated. Maybe she saw it get really hurt and can't bring herself to tell you because she's you're mom and you're her child.
