Today, I received a card in the mail. It was from my vet's office. Written inside was "We send our sympathy during this trying time." I haven't been home in three days. I can't find my dog and my mother won't talk about it. My dog was 7. She hated that dog. FML

Today, I returned home from college for the first time in a month. I went to my bedroom and found a nice gift bag on my dresser. Thinking it was a Valentine's gift, I opened it. My dog's ashes were in a tin inside. This is how I found out my dog died since I was away. FML

Today, while house sitting for my mother and stepfather, their elderly dog passed away. They live in such a remote location, the closest open vet office is a 2 hour drive, and the local one opens in 10 hours. FML

Today, I received an unexpected package from my mother. It contained my cat's ashes. Apparently he died 3 weeks ago and she thought this was the best way to tell me. FML

Today, I was sent a letter by the vet, saying my cat was late for her yearly checkup. My cat died last week and I'd had her cremated by the same people who had sent the letter. FML

Today, I open my front door and saw a covered basket with a card from my girlfriend on it. I picked it up and read, "Hope this cheers you up." I uncovered the basket to find a golden labrador puppy. Its eyes were closed and it wasn't breathing. FML

Today, I called my mother to check up on her. Lately, she's been having some financial problems, so last week I sent her my last $100 to help her out until her next paycheck. She used the money to euthanize the family dog. FML

Today, I was flattered to receive a hand-addressed letter for the first time in years. I tore it open to discover it was actually addressed to my dog. It was a vaccination reminder from his vet. FML

Today, I was taking out the trash and I came upon a bill from a veterinary hospital. It was for $50 and it was a bill to put my dog down. My Dad said my dog was missing and I put hundreds of signs around the city. FML

Today, I was at a friend's birthday party when I got a call from my mom telling me to come home because my dog died. When I told my friend that I had to leave because of the loss, she replied with, "Okay, but you brought my gift inside, right?" FML

Wow...I'm sorry, but don't approach this situation the wrong way! Confront your mom and demand to know what happened to YOUR dog. Get the honest answer, you'll be able to tell by looking at her eyes, also ask the vet to make sure that her story checks out. After hearing her side of the story decide whether or not to forgive her. No offense, but half the people commenting here are assuming that your mom had your dog put down for no reason and you should not listen to them. Regardless of what she did, she is still your mother and it would not be wise to damage your relationship over a misunderstanding. Btw: If she did have your dog put down for no apparent reason aside from dislike...then...well yeah, she's a horrible conniving demon.

man, my sympathies man. I dont know how somebody could "hate" a dog, let alone do that to a loved one. Not to offend anybody but Im willing to bet anything she was not a vegetarian. Just a guess. Anyways my heart goes out to you. Dont get any pets until you move the **** out.

I'm really sorry this happened to you! I would be seriously angry and make her pay for what she did. Don't forgive her or let it go lightly until she tells you exactly what happened and apologises sincerely.
