I can see how this could happen. I have a large extended family, with a ton of cousins I've never met, and a few of them have added me on Facebook. Although calling her "cutie" is definitely a bit of a facepalm moment.

Not necessary. I don't even know the names of ANY of my cousins on my moms side and half my Dads side. My parents don't even mention them. So my cousin could move next door and I would be best friends with them and never even know they were family
