Like I said, he doesn't have any sort of disease, he was calling to make sure that the form he was sending in had my name on it the exact same why my license has my name, and he said, " ______ is spelled with one L?" Also, he's not an idiot and is the best father anyone could ask for. He just wasn't thinking and I was having a fairly crappy day in the first place. So it made it a bit more noticeable.

No he doesn't deserve a pass if she has a "super ghetto name"; because it's the name HE gave her!
Your father needs to see a competent doctor to be checked for early stages of Alzheimer's or dementia. He should mention to his doctor that this episode happened. At very least, start writing it down when your father does things like this and show it to his doctor - if he won't go and discuss it on his own. Early treatment can improve and might even stave off those conditions. Fish oil supplements are helpful. (Men shouldn't take borage oil, though.) Good luck.

Lol I have a similar situation. At least your dad is polite enough to ask! My dad can remember the part numbers of even the tiniest bolts on complex machines he designed 40 years ago, has designed secondary packaging equipment for many fortune 500 companies, has patents on various mechanisms that changed the way such machines were designed, and has an IQ of 128...but cannot spell my name. He doesn't have anyone with whom to confuse me; I'm an only child, and he named me.
Calm down guys, that's not an FML. My dad always ask me to spell my name because he just want to make sure he spelled it right. My name us just Philippe

He didn't have your name programmed in his phone?
My dad does that too. And I'm named after him.
