Today, I received a slip through my door saying that the package I'd ordered couldn't be delivered today because no-one was home to sign for it. I got the slip just in time to watch the guy who put it through my letterbox get in his van, look me in the eye and drive off. FML

OP here. The bastard didn't even knock and left the package in a post office the other side of town, even though I live five minutes from a sorting office.

Yo that's messed up. I hate when they knock and only hang around for like 3 seconds before leaving.

That sucks, OP. I've found a lot of delivery drivers don't even bother knocking, and just assume no one is home during working hours, and fill out the slip.

Did he ring the doorbell? Not being in the UK, are they supposed to ring the bell? Our delivery drivers ring the bell and leave immediately after writing what time they tried. I have to run up stairs, scream just a second, turn off the alarm, and unlock the door. I do that all in approx 20 sec and they still manage to walk away. Sorry OP. I hope you report him.

yes they are supposed to ring the bell or knock on thr door and wait for a sutiable length of time. you also have to wait 24 hours before you pick up the package at your nearest depot which is usually one that is at least 2 miles away and not on a bus route. they refuse to leave them at the local post office but fedex and dhl do.

It happens to everyone. I mean what's the point of driving to my address and leaving a slip without knocking on the door?

Probably so they don't have to take the package out of the van, and instead just walk over and write up a slip. I once had a delivery driver complain to me that I received too many heavy packages!!

I never had this happen to me. Maybe I am lucky that the delivery people actually do their job in the state I live.

Maybe he took one look at you and decided you were not worthy of such a nice package. Those Fedex guys can be such judgmental bitches.

knowing what the uk postal service is like i doubt that this is fedex.

#26, look, the exact company doesn't matter. If I pay good money to have a package delivered to my home, that guy needs to do his job and shove that package in my slot, no questions asked, a'ight? Wait, that sounds wrong.

I handle with care. I'm used to dealing with large packages. I can deliver to the back door.

Congrats you just got the job! Training starts tomorrow ;)

wait don't deliver your package to my back door. the dog frequently goes in and out as he pleases. just slide the package under the bush in the front.

I'm sure if you were a hot female he would have made the effort. He's probably just pissed that you took forever to answer your door.

I'll have you know I'm SUPER hot. ;D

Years ago, the mail carrier put the "unable to deliver" notice in our mailbox for a package for my brother. They didn't even get out of the truck to see if anyone was home, I'm guessing the person based it on the fact there were no cars in the driveway.

They're just lazy. This sort of thing has been going on for years. Bloody Royal Mail... Unless it wasn't Royal Mail, then you can complain and something should be done about it.

You should talk to your delivery person and let them know you were slow to the door or what not. I work nights and am normally asleep when they get here and my husband gets home after they deliver normally. Sometimes they can adjust their schedule to wait 30 seconds more or come later in the day when it's better for you. This is how deliveries go in my area: Fed-ex, early morning around 8 -9 am Post Office, between 10am - 12noon UPS around 3-5pm So talk to them and see what can be worked out.

I'd ask UPS and FedEx to adjust their schedules so they would deliver at the same time and then record the epic fight-to-the-death battle that ensues.

There's no way Royal Mail (U.K.s state delivery service) would do that 27. You're lucky if they try to deliver your parcel at-all. It's extremely common for post men and women to just post a piece of paper through your door, telling you to go and pick up your parcel at a post office, which is where parcels are only supposed to go if no-one was home.

27 - OP wasn't slow to the door, though. They made it in time to see the driver get back to their car, which would take all of, what, 5-10 seconds?

49 mine are always left at the sorting depot even tho i am five seconds from my post office. both DHL and Fedex have left stuff at my local post office but never the royal mail.
