You deserve it for not checking the descriptions first, but it was just an unfortunate coincidence. If she was crying it obviously means she's still having troubles coping with his death (and yes people, I do know it'll take her more than a few weeks to get over it, though she probably won't get completely over it...anyway) ... and you should just be a good friend and tell her if she ever needs to talk you'll willing to listen. I think it might've turned out ok though, it's healthy to cry over the loss of someone and it's natural, so I don't see why people are slagging you off so hard. It's almost as if they've never made a mistake. Sheesh.
