Today, I seemingly misplaced my cell phone but didn't have time to look for it before work. This evening, my cell phone company calls me to tell me I have six hundred dollars worth of calls to El Salvador that I have to pay for. My cell phone was not misplaced, it was stolen. FML

Today, I had misplaced my cell phone. I decided the best course of action would be to dial the number from my house phone and wait for it to ring to locate it. Somebody answered when I called. It wasn't the wrong number and I had a brief conversation with the man that stole my phone. FML

Today, after having lost my phone three days ago, I paid a $150 non-refundable fee to have my phone replaced and mailed to me by Tuesday. A half hour later, I found my original phone. FML

Today, I lost my $100 in cash that I had to use to pay my phone bill. As a result, my phone got cut off and I missed an important call for an apartment that I was looking at. When I went to work, I heard my boss saying how lucky she was to find $100 in cash. FML

Today, I accidentally left my cell phone at the restaurant. When I realized my mistake, I went back to see if anyone had found it. They said no, so I gave them my number to call if it turned up. I realized later that I'd given them my cell phone number. FML

Today, after working out at the gym, I went to grab my bag, and realized that my phone was missing. Panicking, I reached into my pocket, pulled out my phone, and dialed my mom's number to tell her I'd lost it. It took me until the last ring to realize what I was doing. FML

Today, I found a cellphone. I went through the contacts and called the one listed as "Dad" to inform them I could leave it at a cash register of the store I found it in, or take it to the police station so they could pick it up. They then called the police, insisting I stole it. FML

This happened to me too. I called and reported it stolen immediately, but Verizon still billed me anyway. I had automatic billing so they billed my credit card. I called my credit card company and had them reverse the charge. Then I cancelled the credit card. Verizon sucks, they are still sending me annoying lawyer letters demanding that I pay them the $500 for calls to El Salvador. Hah. I will never pay.

so not only did your phone company call you that same day, but they.. called you. that's like saying that your internet service provider sent you an email explaining why your internet currently doesn't work. it doesn't make any sense and i highly question the validity of this story.

Yeah this story is total crap. They wouldn't call you. they'd put it on the bill. And when you explained it was stolen, they would take it off the bill.

And to all those saying "well the provider can see you haven't called el salvador"...just a thought but maybe they didn't have a reason to call el salvador until recently. Maybe a friend moved down there...who knows

same thing happened to my dad, the phone was just sitting on our counter and a guy that was working on our carpet stole it and made like 3 calls to Mexico. then showed up for work again thenext day like nothing was wrong! IDIOT. he got fired, duh.

I know atleast 3 or 4 people, including myself and my father, whom this exact situation has happened to, except that they weren't stolen, but lost, but all the calls were to el salvador....
