Today, I sent my boss a link to a website I thought would answer a simple question she'd asked. Turns out, yes, the site did answer her question, but it also had some very suggestive ads on it. Apparently I'm the only person in the office who uses adblock. FML

The website the OP sent her boss to had some nasty ads (Probably for **** websites or something similar.) The OP didn't know though because she has adblock (which meant she couldn't see the nasty ads)

Ahaha. Adblock is one of the first things to go on when I help people with their internet. Oh well. No harm done hopefully OP. Those ads switch out everywhere like crazy.

what is this adblocker you speak of I'd like to know

^^^^ This. Adblock Pro is quite simply the best possible extension for firefox ever. Combined with element hiding helper and easy list it gets rid of 98% of the adds on the net with no further work. You can use it to remove crap elements of facebook etc, it is just the best thing in the world. I combine it with peer blocks anti spy and ad ware, noscript,WOT and drop my rights. Combines for a tasty, crap free internet experience.

it's not like you can control the ads that pop up.. your boss is stupid if they tried to blame you

If your boss's question was so simple, why didn't you just answer it yourself?

Bet that made for some awkward conversation...

It's the company's fault, more than it is yours, for using lackluster software. Recommend new security software, including ad-blockers, at the next meeting, etc.

I use adblock everywhere. Especially on FML because I hate this website most of the time. Full of awful comments and no way to report them.

If you feel so inclined, you can go that via a PM. Far better than bitching about it in the comments.

You mean mindblock? Are you Chinese?

Is she really sensitive or something? Because it seems to me like everybody who does any serious web surfing sees a "suggestive" ad at some point (unless they use Adblock, lol)... I am curious what she was looking up, that got you to a page full of questionable ads?

Don't you know that most people working in offices aren't actually experienced in computers?.. But, she does seem waaay to sensitive.. And it's not like you got fired. So no FYL really And thanks for AdBlock, never heard of it before, already installed it
