I really don't feel like op beat the kid down like some of you think happened. It was probably more like a pop! stop doing that! and since the child got hit by some rather than thier parent it freaked the child out!
But that's just the thing; we don't know exactly how it all went down. Everything we speculate about the situation is merely an assumption until we can get a follow-up.
doesnt matter. op didnt even look at or talk to the kid before hitting it and thats seriously ****** up. and for something so stupid too. if you cant discipline your kids without hitting them you dont deserve to have any.
So... he got smacked for nothing AND mistaken for a girl... **** his life, not yours :(

Show it anywayhe tried to smack his daughter, but instead turned out to be a random boy, not his kid.
she**
As a child whose parents would hit as the first resort for every perceived misbehaviour I can tell you that hitting is not a good way to discipline. It builds distrust and resentment and has a limited window for being effective. As soon as they are big enough to hit back you are in trouble. My parents never set up any system of discipline other than hitting and it backfired big time.
my parents slapped me, but usually after a warning, I turned out just fine
You would hit her for spinning a display rack? hell I do that and I'm 27. I can't imagine what you would do if she actually did something wrong
I'm all for disciplining children. These kids today are too sheltered. People need to stop over reacting... Although OP should be more careful about disciplining your own child lol
if you cant discipline a child without hitting it you dont ******* deserve to have one. especially if you dont even give it a verbal warning, or even LOOK at it, as op did.
You are an awful parent if the first thing you do when your kid is not behaving is hit him. I hope you learned something from this experience OP. YDI
The kid obviously needed diciplining. Yes it's bad you smacked another person's child, but it was an honest mistake. Besides, where were their patents?? Why were they not supervising the kid? And, why have they not ingrained respect and manners into their child's life? This one could really go either way.
The kid was spinning a display rack...not exactly throwing produce on the floor or insulting strangers.
literally all the kid was doing was spinning a rack. a simple "stop that" would suffice. if you cant discipline a kid without hitting it you dont ******* deserve to have one.

And you're first reaction was to resort to physical violence (instead of at least a verbal request/warning for them to stop) without even confirming that it was your kid, let alone the same gender? In my opinion, YDI.
Does that really deserve a smack in the first place?
