Today, I spent eight hours cutting, curing, and aligning on the racks, six months worth of beef to be dried for some tasty jerky, only to find out my dehydrator is broken beyond repair, and would cost as much to fix as the soon-to-spoil meat that I bought. FML

If it were me, I would try to get the dehydrator fixed before the meat spoils, even though it is expensive, because you will probably need it in the future

That's a major bummer, but with all of that careful preparation why didn't you check over your equipment ahead of time? FYL

You can make jerky in your oven. A video at Facebook.com/orlandojerky shows you how.

Get the BBQ out and your friends round or start cooking it in the oven . I hope you work something out op.

Do what I do, get a few cellophane furnace filters, not the fuzzy ones, and a box fan, layer the meat between the filters, stack on the fan, secure with bungee cord, turn it on high and by the end of the day you'll have some tasty jerky. I learned this trick from Good Eats with Alton Brown.

And that's why Alton is the god of food.

guess your dehydrator is being a jerky

Looks like it's family steak night. Or month.

Set oven to 170, leave door slightly open, boom, instant dehydrator.

I had a similar problem with my uncles dehydrator. Take it apart and sell the parts to save and get another one, if that's not possible, there are some stores who can dehydrate and salt your meat in Utah. Good luck OP

So do it the old fashioned way, dude n
