Today, I spent hours and hours trying to figure out why the wireless internet on my laptop wasn't working, but everything I tried completely failed. At the end of the day, my older brother came home, and fixed the problem in under 10 seconds by turning the wireless internet switch on. FML

ummmm really if you know enough about computers to spend "hours and hours" trying to figure out why the wireless internet isn't working then you should know enough to check if it's on or off. Isn't that fairly easy to discover? I mean, I have a MacBook and it shows right at the top of the screen if my wireless is on or off. I'm sorry but this has to be a YDI for a total "here's your sign" moment

Well, windows is pretty unclear and if the guy was used to using a desktop where there's no switch he could be pretty confused. I remember it took me a while to figure out about the wireless switch in the first laptop I had with one.

lol, that's ok. I did that, too, when I first starting using my laptop. If finally dawned on me like three hours later. Be glad your older brother helped you instead of teasing you, though. :)

I did that on my old laptop. But I didnt figure it out for 3 months! But, in my defence, mine didnt have a switch, it was a ctrl+alt+f# thing, so it wasnt so easy to notice.

Haaaha. Dude....when I got my new laptop a couple months ago...I did the exact same thing. I was about to go give the thing BACK to the store and ask for a new one...

That happened to my friend's mom - she does tech support. Just chalk it up to "It happens to the best of us" and move on with your life, it's OK.

Happened to me... Only I was the one who found the "on" switch before my husband and brother in law (both who had tried to get it working).

This isn't a FML. Any of us with kids (or cats) learn quickly that 1/2 the time your wireless doesn't work it's because some little one in the house turned off your wireless on the laptop.

I've done that SO many times. It's okay, buddy. [=
