Hey, I'm the OP. For your information, my grammar was impeccable. The people correcting it were American readers "correcting" stuff such as "colour", "realise", and the usual suspects. As for calling the Pope a noob, it was joking. I was ranting about the Africa situation actually, and I said he's a noob to the real world if he thinks celibacy is going to fix it. Thanks for demonising me, though! Anyone who thinks I deserve to be threatened with eternal hellfire for writing my opinions is stupid. I've shut the thing down until I write more material, because people in general are ******* stupid.

*Get binoculars, lawnchair and popcorn* I'm going to watch this flame war from a distance. *Unfolds lawn chair and sits in it* Damn it. I forgot my drink and I just sat down.
The problem isn't talking shit on the Pope. That's a person's right. I'm an atheist, I don't agree with the Pope. But if you're gonna speak against him, find a better way to do it. Say specific issues you have a problem with. "Lol pope is a n00b" makes you look uneducated.

Honestly I think calling the Pope sacred is ridiculous, because all he does is sit there in the Vatican and act all high and mighty, plus he was voted in by other priests. What part of the election creates a sacredness? If being elected by other human beings to rule a community makes you sacred, we could call Richard Nixon or George Bush sacred. Until he does something worthy of recognition, he is no more than a mere person.
I can relate with the spelling thing so much! I write a blog with a lot of American readers and as an Australian, I use English grammar- Colour, odour, etc. And they always correct it. Also, amusingly, your post number is 69. Carry on.
who wished you to burn in hell is only a jackass, since they don't even get that you were joking, and correcting silly stuffs means they don't have anything smarter to say. keep sharing your ideas on your blog, don't care much about morons, rather get used to that, if you want to keep your page public. people love insulting and demonizing whatever they read on the internet, imho to yell out their frustration, poor bastards :D btw I agree with you about the pope, lol.
Well, yes, but it's not actually being butchered. We use a very isolated dialect, which is the same reason we pronounce Z as "zee" instead of the normal "zed".
Blogging. There you go. You post opinions on the Internet and obviously keyboard warriors come out of the woodwork. Keep at it or give up.
#31-- Calling the pope a noob isn't disrespectful towards Catholics. The pope is just a person, and a pretty bad person at that, so of course he's going to get criticism and disrespect. Like I said somewhere above, having a large fan club doesn't make you immune to criticism or disrespect. No one says that disrespecting Justin Bieber or Twilight is offensive to teen girls and such. I'm sure that many Catholics either don't support all of the pope's actions and viewpoints or are not aware of all of the bad things the pope does. If a Catholic does support some of the controversial things the pope does and says, then s/he should personally receive criticism, but not the religion as a whole as it's not like all the members of that religion think in the same way.
#78-- Please don't perpetuate the myth that America butchered the English language. I could give a full explanation, but all you need to know is that both British and American dialects have changed a lot over time, so modern British English is just as "butchered" as modern American English (and possibly more so...) Also the history of the spelling differences is more complicated than Americans "just being stupid" or making mistakes, so if you don't actually know the history of English dialects, I suggest you research it before commenting on it. :) It's actually pretty interesting. I hate when people give American English a bad name without knowing about its history!
65- I'm an atheist as well but I find disrespecting other peoples' religions to be inconsiderate. It may be a person's "right" to say that the Pope is a n00b, but there is also such a thing as common decency and respect for your fellow man. I wouldn't go up to someone and call their religion shit or try to convince them to believe something else and I expect the same from others. If people would just learn to keep their mouths shut when it comes to religion, this world would be a much better place.
@#69 *demonizing
*demonizing :D
Oh god, I hate it when Americans 'correct' spelling... you'd think they'd have enough brain power to realise you're using the English spelling. Not even worth getting annoyed over, dude xD Wouldn't shut down the blog over it to be honest ^_^
yeap, i agree with you at this point!
I am sorry. I really hate stupid people, and they are ruining the world/Internet/and life for the rest of us.
Calling the OP an ignorant asshole? You just sound like an ignorant asshole. ... and that joke can just keep looping until you're bored.
Naturally, despite Uganda having the best success lowering AIDS rates by promoting the ABC campaign (abstinence, being faithful, and condoms), with condoms only pushers seeing nowhere near that success, condoms are clearly the panacea for the AIDS crisis in 3rd world countries. Not to mention that studies have shown condoms actually become less effective the longer a person uses them, due to a compounded failure rate.
#78: How have Americans butchered English by spelling things slightly differently from England? American English became standardized almost 100 years after the Revolutionary War, considering the distance, means of communication back then and the fact America was a different country, no wonder the language turned out a little different. People who use text talk butcher the English language, not people who spell "color" instead of "colour." Just saying...
Based on religion he is the closest disciple to God in the entire world and the process of becoming the pope is pretty difficult not to mention his regular lifestyle. He's also the first pope in history to ever come to America. Not saying I'm a huge believer in Catholicism and Christianity but I am saying that I can see how a lot of people see him as a really big deal.
#121 what are you actually talking about what are all of these "bad things" the pope has done? If the pope was as weak of a figure as you seem to think he is it would be detrimental to the most common religion in the U.S. And since most seem to adore him I really don't think he's that bad of a guy
It's sad that you pulled it down. I wanted to read a blog with someone calling the pope a noob!
While respect and even completely agree with your opinion, if you're going to call the pope a n00b then you shouldn't be surprised that your responses came from idiots. Write a little less like someone trying to pwn their opponents and you might have something worth reading.
Ummm. The differences are not due to a shift in the languages and more due to Webster's one man crusade to get rid of the spellings he personally hated.
Murcia!
so your saying that I'd be better to give people condoms instead of promoting celibacy? since when has sex been necessary for living? AIDs is bad, but wouldn't it be better to promote and pay fot screenings than to give people condoms and say 'good luck'?
Not to mention that America is a giant melting pot, so as other cultures take on the English language, there are bound to be some mix ups in grammar that at some point actual get accepted as part of the American dialect of English
people can be cruel. keep your head up and don't listen to the haters
#211-"since when has sex been necessary for living?" oh boy.. well you see you wouldn't be living if it weren't for sex so.. I don't know, that's at least one way. also people are going to have sex no matter what, condoms help reduce the spread of diseases like aids.. screening helps say whether they're disease free, until the next time they have sex without a condom again. repeated screening seems like a huge waste of time and resources to me unless complemented with protection. I don't know how there is any questioning that condoms would help the situation at least some.
Exactly!!! Finally someone else can grasp this concept!
But American English is different from the English used everywhere else, and it's starting to affect Canadian education. I grew up with teachers who preferred American spellings of words, so they taught us those, and the kids in my class have suffered because of it. It also causes problems with people who frequently travel between America and another country, such as Canada/Britain/Australia/etc.
It's funny because writing color, doesn't give the proper pronunciation (and quite frankly, it just looks wrong. And I'm saying this as someone who grew up with both spellings being used in my household, and my school)
He has done more to deserve recognition than most people on this site. He has helped sexually abused children from the Catholic Church and helped many people in need and protected and inspired them. He has given his own money to help other nations
The Internet basically exists for two reasons: **** and for people to tear each other down. If you can handle criticism (both constructive and really really not) you shouldn't be putting your stuff out there.
wow sucks u took ur blog down when u get it back up let me know sounds like a gd read
What's the blog called? I'd be interested in reading it
Hey, you stood up for yourself OP, if others have issues with your opinions they can GTFO.
You came to the internet with an opinion and expected... respect? Who's the idiot again? Ah yes, people. I believe you fit that category as well. Buck up - people will be dicks in the blogging world; you have to ignore them. I YouTube and from experience I'd say 40% of the comments any content creator gets are irrelevant or are people calling the artist a fag because they are safe and cozy behind the warm glow of their monitor with sad little lives and simple little minds.
Just saying... If u have a blog and state you opinion , especially if its those types of opinions against peoples religion you should expect negative feed back because you just sound like an ass instead of making a valid point.
yes. yes they were.
#78 It's not butchered, it's evolved. It's evolved in a way that people can communicate better.
This is all very true. He's actually the most tolerant and kind Pope the Catholic Church has seen in probably forever.
The American spellings of most words have one less/different letter than the British spellings. I honestly don't think your teachers using the American spellings could have screwed your education that badly.
People are stupid
Well that escalated quickly
I don't care about what you have to say
Facebook Rule #1 right there.
Nobody cares that you don't care about what OP says.
All this tells me is that you are blogging correctly. Congrats.
How is the pope a n00b?? He's ancient!
What did you expect, instant stardom? A million followers eagerly awaiting your next update? A book deal? Blogs are a dime a dozen. To get people to read it you need something interesting and original to say, not just some inflammatory bullshit.
A good example would be if OP was a doctor. He could write stories on his blog about messed up in the head patients!
#25-- Depending on the context, calling the pope a noob may not just be "inflammatory bullshit"... Read the OP's comment. I think it was just added to his argument for emphasis.
Context is irrelevant when you say something like that about someone like the pope.
#128-- If that's true, then isn't ANY criticism of ANY political or influential figure "inflammatory bullshit" regardless of context?
Especially RFOs. Like.. Oh, I don't know.. a glass Coke bottle? Maybe a vibrator?
Why's everyone down voting? I think this guy's response is awesome!
I'd like to read your blog. Would you please share it here? I'm sure the FML commenters would enjoy it a lot more than your current commenters.
Why'd you call the Pope a noob? Publicly?

Wow, what a fail. Americans (in general, because I am one) can't seem to accept that some English-speaking countries spell words differently... actually I think they were spelled that way before America butchered the language.
