Today, I started Lifeguard Training and we had the fitness test you had to pass to continue. I work out everyday and I start on our football team. It's spring break and i've worked everyday (construction). I'm fit. Time comes to take the test, I finished last, beat by a 44 year old woman. FML
I agree, your life sucks 55 143
You deserved it 17 730

bron92 tells us more.

Thanks everyone, haters and all. Let me clear some things up for yall. 1) i did pass, but when i was out of the pool i was GASSED 2) the woman was in pretty damn good shape. I didnt mean to be sexist or ageist. 3) my football team was 11-2. The Ennis Lions, if you wanna check im #64. We were 1 game short of state (loss to rockwall heath) 4) Im not the typical "athlete". I had a pink mohawk in the summer, I listen to no rap and all alternative, I HAVE PINK AND BLACK VANS FOR GODS SAKE. 5) This will surprise you. I'm 6'2 and 230lbs (6% body fat). An offensive lineman, thats why i had some problems. I didn't mean to come off as a jerk, or a "dumb jock",and I actually did somewhat prepare for this test. I had a friend who is a lifeguard teach me and have me swim but I guess it wasn't enough. And, yes, I RESPECT ALL YOU SWIMMERS NOW! haha I learned the hard way

There are 10 types of fitness that get measured. I don't expect that you are actually unfit in any way, but the other people probably just focused on the areas you didn't - which are probably the areas they measured. It's not like you lost to an elderly obese man, you lost to somebody who likely swims as a sport everyday.

I don't know what kind of fitness test this is, but if it's for Lifeguard Training, I'd guess swimming is involved. In which case, I don't care if you're the fittest guy in the world, if you can't swim, you're no good.

I am a swimmer, my favorite thing in high school was to watch the other sports kids try to swim in gym. They went in thinking they were invincible only to get lapped by a little girl. good times :) They don't realize swimming uses muscles that you never really use otherwise.. that is why swimmers cross train like crazy. On top of that, swimming is something that age doesn't matter... Dara Torres was 41 and swam in the Olympics this summer, I watched her.

haha I have no simpathy for a sports jock who thinks swimming will be easy only to find out he cant swim a couple laps. Last year a couple football players come to our swim practice as a joke. They all threw up within half an hour. Sweet sweet justice. #25 - You have no idea how hard swimming is unless you've already done it yourself, and then you have no business saying how easy it is to someone who has never swam before. Swimming is a totally different sport all on its own, just like your not gonna be able to catch a pass all the time just because you can jump high. Totally different things.

Showoff :P (hahaha number 32. awesome.)

Mhmm agree with #31. Swimming is a completely different sport. You have to be physically fit, not muscular. Muscle sinks sooo sorry buddy.

Oooh football players. Funny thing about swimming is that you can't breathe the whole time because your face is under water. And they tell you before you start lifeguard classes that you're going to have to swim a 500, so it might have been smart to have been practicing beforehand if you wanted to look cool? Plus, it's not like you have to be good at swimming to save people in the water or anything...

hahaha. stupid football player. This definitively proves that swimming is a way harder sport than people think. and # 10 - the 500 is not that hard. at all. i personally find it almost as hard as the 100. and #29, don't brag for ur 5:14 team mate. u must live in the middle of the country. here in cali, 5:14 doesn't even make finals in our high school section championship. plus everyone is right, 44 is really not that old, so dont feel too bad for yourself.

Chris Chelios is still playing in the NHL and hes 47 i believe yeah so some old people are pretty fit.

Um this makes PERFECT sense. People always think swimming is SOO EASYY. "I run a lot so I can swim". FALSE. Swimming uses different muscles AND you're dragging yourself through water, not air. Many people get in and could go maybe 4 laps without stopping. maybe even just 2. But for a swimmer... 20 is nothing. many times, in a typical practice, we will go upwards of 200 laps. Swimming is a much harder sport than many think. So, to the person who posted this FML, after failing this task, mr. "Star of the football team", could YOU go 200 laps? Not so athletic are you now, huh?
