Today, I started my first training day using an MRI machine and completely forgot to remove my nipple piercings before I went in. I've never experienced a pain so vile and lingering in my life. FML

Aaaaand today I learned that if I take a MRI I have to remember to take out my nipple piercings.

Why do people get their nipples pierced??? I'm not against it or anything but It just seems like it'd hurt more than it's worth.

First thing you should learn is that MRI stands for MAGNETIC resonance imaging.

I have 2 dermals above my chest and I cannot fathom the pain that caused!

sorry for the dumb question. Why does that hurt?

An MRI is a MAGNETIC Resonance Imaging machine. All magnets. OP was wearing magnetic nipples piercings, and the jewelry did or almost did get ripped out of his nipples by magnets.

Dam, knew it had magnetic stiff but I thought you where unaffected inside the MRI.

Pro tip: Hand polished internally threaded biocompatable jewelry isn't magnetic. It's also the only type of jewelry that should be used in piercings. Sounds like you need an upgrade.

Oh god, that hurt my piercings just reading that.

How did they even let you near an MRI without you knowing that very basic info about it? The school you're going through for your medical imaging degree needs to give you a refund and be shut down.

By the time most rad techs are doing on the job training they will have been in school for at least 3 years and probably working on their 4th. They are trained and educated extensively on these machines before being allowed to use them in a real world setting. It sounds like OP didn't pay enough attention or had a brain fart that day.

Today, my grandmother is happy, because I took out my nipple piercings. The downside: it wasn't by choice. Or was it.
