Dentists recommend whitening essentially for people who have unfortunate aesthetic conditions like tetracycline staining. Also, whitening kits given by dentists are to be used with RESPONSIBILITY. Burnt tissue can be from too much product put into the trays as well as the tray being left in too long among other reasons. Strange that he/she gave one to you considering you have fluorosis/hypo calcification.

YDI for not leaving it to the professionals. If a hair colourist told me to go home and lighten my hair myself, I would find a better hair colourist. And teeth are arguably a lot more important than hair; they don't grow back!

Dentists make money off of mouth and teeth injuries,why trust them when they say "here put dangerous chemicals in your mouth"?

I know this is late but most teeth whiteners are actually really bad for your teeth. If you want whiter teeth use hydrogen peroxide by gurgling it and swishing it around before you spit it out.
