I dated a guy who's mom was dead, and I used to feel SO bad whenever I would just off-handedly say "your mom," or something. So even though we're not dating anymore, it left a lasting impression, and I try to always refrain from saying random things about family members. Stinks for you, OP. And for that dude too. I'm sorry that happened :(

I make the mistake of saying things about my mom as if she were alive. it might have hit a little, but unless there's some major unresolved issues I wouldn't worry about it. Apologize and move on, or don't even bring it up if it's that sensitive. but it's an honest mistake, could happen to us all.

both of my parents died last year, and even though it would prob make me think ab them after receiving the text, i would realize it was just a forward. even though mass texts are a bit annoying and unnecessary, the OP didnt really do anything to deserve it.. its just a text. but whatev.

YDI for sending a mass txt. txting people you never talk to just because its a holiday is annoying, especially when its a reminder for a holiday. wtf. youre a huge tool. everyone knows how to read a calender, they dont need an annoying txt.
