#14, you sound like a real ****** who not many many women would be interested in anyway, so why don't you keep your opinions to yourself. The waiter had to tell you, it was part of his job. But he did it in a nice way so other people couldn't hear and he didn't ignore you note, which he probably would've done if he wasn't interested. Would be pretty embarrassing, but could've been worse. =)
#14, how do you know she was JUST going to get married? It can take a long time to get over somebody. You shouldn't just make assumptions. #21 said everything I was thinking. :P
I don't think this is an FML other then your card getting declined. He leaned in close to you to say it which means he was probably trying to save you from the embarrassment of the whole restaurant knowing your card was declined and he said thank you for the note, rather then ignoring it. He had to tell you your card was declined because that's his job. If he wasn't interested he probably would have pretended not to see the note. He sounds like he is really nice. Maybe you should give it another try. =)
I agree 100% with #21. But hey, don't be discouraged.
YDi. Don't flirted with people you're not attracted to just to get over somebody. It's not going to do anything to you or to him.
OUCH!
Thanks to the Credit card companies nowadays, cards are getting declined over bullshit right and left. Don't feel too bad about it, trust me, anybody in the service industry right now understands this all too well. #14 is a douchebag.
At least he whispered.

He said thanks
He was nice about it though! Embarrassing, but at least he didn't shout it across the restaurant or anything.
