Today, I thought I might need some anger-management classes, after I punched a hole in a kitchen cabinet when my dog wouldn't stop yapping every time the rooster my neighbors just got made a noise. FML

IAt least you didn't punch a hole in the dog!

Completely agree with #130... I'm shocked how many people are saying that what OP did was a good thing. Just because "most" (you people watch a lot of TV don't you?) of the people in anger management are there under court order because they severely injured or killed someone (which in all honesty would land them in jail, not anger management) doesn't mean OP is free and clear. Being unable to control oneself when the situation is frustrating is NOT a good thing and should be addressed with the assistance of trained professionals.

You don't need anger management. You knew enough to hit the cabinet and not the dog, rooster, or idiot neighbor that was the cause of all this. Me, I probably need anger management. I would've gagged the dog, roasted the rooster, and screwed with the neighbor - all the while eating my deliciously roasted rooster ^_^. I'm a bad person, but you aren't OP, trust me :)

^ yes ^_^ And I thought it'd be obvious. To not punch the dog.

True. But then again think of the OP's situation. Imagine how long this could have been going on for, the op can't get away and be alone for a sec to re-gather their thoughts and calm themselves. If you've had a mental attack on your nerves for over a day you wouldn't be at your calmest or most rational either. Thinking about that, and assuming there is no history of violent behavior in OP's past, the fact that op - while still mentally jarred by the constant bombardment of annoying & frustrating sounds that would boil anyone's blood - had enough of a clear mind to hit a cabinet in a moment of weakness shows better self control than many. I think you two simply have too much faith in the general population. We humans are violent, stupid, pack minded beings that follow the first sign of confident authority and are easily thrown off their mental and emotional balance, assuming they have any to begin with

and i thought I needed anger management

just put on some music and put it on blast. that could kind of drown out your dogs barks and make you a lot calmer. it can also annoy your neighbor.

At least you realized that you do have an issue and that you need to seek professional help. I hope you do seek the help and not just let it run past your mind as a thought.
