OP: you should have let him dress however he wants. If he looks like a moron for not matching that's his problem. OP's BF: throwing her stuff to the curb? Totally asshole, immature, inappropriate thing to do. If it was "the last straw" (as some commenters have suggested) then act like a grown up and tell her, calmly that you wish to break up with her. OP's boyfriend is now my new hero. I ditched a blind date once who, upon meeting me in person, started with, "Your clothes don't match." I think I was wearing white camo pants with a Metallica shirt and a black denim jacket. And I was 16.
