Today, I told my father I registered for the Marines, and that I'm leaving for bootcamp next week. He asked if this means that he doesn't have to pay child support anymore. FML

My respect for the Marines was earned a long time ago when I wanted to join myself for the right reasons. From what other recruiters told me and after things I heard from people throughout the years, it got me undecisive and maybe alittle bit critical. There are many reasons to why I respect the Marines, one of them is for serving our country and for never letting it and everyone in the country down, thats beyond a good reason.

Marines (and all armed forces) earn respect by serving their country, in many ways, not just during war time. They're deployed during disasters in this country and in foreign countries. While you may be pissed off by the things that politicians have used the forces for, you should never be pissed off by the forces themselves. If we learned anything from Vietnam, we should at least learn that.
