Today, I told my girlfriend of eight months that if she didn't start taking my band's music seriously, we couldn't see each other anymore. She said fine, and I hugged her, but then she stood up and said 'I hope we can still be friends,' and walked out the door. FML

I know that this is unrelated to the FML, but I've always thought that saying "We're breaking up, but we can still be friends." is like saying "Your dog died, but you can still keep him." :/ That does kinda stink, though.

Good grief. I'm doing my third year of a music degree and have been playing classical piano most of my life, and I have never once instructed anyone, boyfriend or otherwise, to "take my music seriously." That just screams "in denial about my shitty band" to me. YDI, and your now-ex girlfriend is officially awesome for not putting up with your entitled crap.

well that wasn't very smart. You can't make your girl like your music or even appreciate . Its your fault sorry you weren't smart enough to realize difference in taste and opinion is the best part of being with someone else cause you get to learn from each other and appreciate each others differences as well as your similarities. Better luck next time.
