Today, I told my husband that I think he has ADHD. He was offended and began to argue, then he got distracted by a dog outside. FML

Well at least you know how to escape uncomfortable conversations now.

thats actually ADAD/ADD (attention deficient attention disorder)

ADHD is actually a lot more than getting distracted easily. There was a great video on YouTube explaining how it actually effects social situations

ADD and ADHD are the same thing. The current terminology is Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, but it's more of an umbrella term... there are different subtypes. These are: ADHD with predominantly inattentive presentation, ADHD with predominantly hyperactive/impulsive presentation, and ADHD with combined presentation. So (at least in North America) the proper term is ADHD, even if someone doesn't demonstrate excessive hyperactivity or impulsivity. I'm a pediatric neuropsychologist, so I see misunderstanding of ADHD everyday... I wish they changed the name of the disorder to something more reflective of what parents and family members actually experience.

Yes, like Executive Dysfunction Disorder, or something like that. Because that's the actual root of the problem, and it doesn't make you think of overly energetic kids or distracted dogs. I have ADHD myself, and I could do without all the ignorant stereotypes and prejudices people have.
