Today, I told my mom I'm severely allergic to my cat and that the doctor told me it would be best to get rid of the cat. Somewhat jokingly, I told her it was either me or the cat. She chose the cat. She was serious too. FML

if you're a minor and still going to school, that's sad but if you're like 30, living at home and paying no rent... clearly the cat should win it all depends...

#3 that's ****** up. You can't make people choose over two things they love. Most of the time it will backfire at the person saying it.

Now you can think of fun ways to get revenge on your mom. Time to party up your new place.

Dude, this has already been on here. GTFO

same exact thing happened to me. i live at home during the summer because im in college allergy meds barely help at all and by the end of a week i'm doing everything i can to just get out of the house and away from those damn cats. parents suck.

#4 & others: Actually, it's not "an animal that can be adopted by somebody else". That's easy enough to say, but it's not what generally happens. I work rescue, I've seen what happens and I know the statistics. Most animals do not get adopted by someone else. Most of them are euthanized, scared and alone in an overcrowded shelter.

You can't just adopt a cat then give it away, that will confuse and freak the cat out. At least humans understand, and it doesn't sound like your a kid either. Your mum made the right choice

Um, if you are old enough for your mom to throw you out, she was probably just trying to get her you out of the freaking house. Get rid of the cat, because her adult child won't leave home? She can keep her cat, and you can live in your own place, paid for by your own money. I might have said the same thing. I don't think she would have said that if you were a minor still in high school. I agree with #5, and your mom.
