Today, I told my mom I'm severely allergic to my cat and that the doctor told me it would be best to get rid of the cat. Somewhat jokingly, I told her it was either me or the cat. She chose the cat. She was serious too. FML

if you're a minor and still going to school, that's sad but if you're like 30, living at home and paying no rent... clearly the cat should win it all depends...

@13: i know it sounds slightly ridiculous, but no, i mean 'baby' in the sense that my cat is helpless, and if i gave him away i would never be able to check on him, and i'd be wondering for the rest of my life what happened to him. i know this because i had to do that when i was younger and it kills me to this day that i could never take care of my cat. obviously the OP is old enough to take care of himself/herself, or the mother wouldn't have said something like that. if the OP was a 7 year-old or something of COURSE different arrangements would have to be made but i think it's ridiculous that older teenagers continue to think everything must be done for them whenever the slightest thing goes wrong. even if the mother was joking i think it's kind of a wake-up call that the OP/people who are older, need to stop expecting to be accommodated. if there weren't medicines for severe allergies it would be a different story. and that's my rant for the day. :)

Maybe you should reflect on what makes you less likable than a cat. But that's a tough competition, cats are adorable, and I'm assuming you're not. Or your mom's just a bitch. I give you YDI but also FYL.

I don't think this is fake. I've thought about it, if when I have kids and they're allergic to my cats either they start getting allergy shots or they pack up their bags and leave.

Sorry, but YDI. I don't think you should have even asked your mom to pick. You don't rid of an animal because of allergies; rehoming an animal is detrimental. You wouldn't rehome a childm would you? I'm severly allergic to all my pets; I either take medication or get shots.

I can swear, that I've been reading different versions of the same FMLs ever since i've first gone to this site. No one's impressing me. Its always impotent guys with problems in the sack, fake, or just people being retarded.
