Today, I told my mom I'm severely allergic to my cat and that the doctor told me it would be best to get rid of the cat. Somewhat jokingly, I told her it was either me or the cat. She chose the cat. She was serious too. FML

if you're a minor and still going to school, that's sad but if you're like 30, living at home and paying no rent... clearly the cat should win it all depends...

#3 that's ****** up. You can't make people choose over two things they love. Most of the time it will backfire at the person saying it.

I could see my step mom doing this. This woman keeps a picture of her 4 cats in front of a family photo, hangs the cats their own embroidered stockings in December, throws them legitimate birthday parties (complete with a cake, candles, paper hats, singing, balloons, pictures, presents...but no one shows up except for her), and pays her cousin $50 a day to feed her cats when she goes out of town--even if someone is home--and calls her cousin, no matter where she is, twice a day to see "how the babies are doing". She goes to Europe at least once a year for a minimum of a week, and uses her cell phone. You do the math. I'm reminded of Adam Carolla's take on love. I can't do it justice, but I can summarize it. Love is finite. People who love animals *really* love animals...kind of like people. Others love a few people in their lives...tolerate animals.

I hear that a slug of lead is the best cure for cat allergies. you medicate the cat, and the problem's gone! :)

If my mom ever did that i would just probably put the cat in the middle of the road...especially since im also allergic to cats

How long did she have the cat before you "developed" these allergies. If it was long enough to get attached, you're being kind of mean. There IS medication, take it, and suck it up. How would you feel if you had to be give away.

I love how so many of the comments on here seem to think that 30 is the right age to move out of mom's basement.
