Today, I told my students that I would be absent tomorrow because my wife was giving birth. They burst into applause... not to congratulate me on the new baby. FML

Doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad teacher, as many have said at this point. Students always do that to teachers, so I wouldn't take it seriously.

it doesnt mean you're a bad teacher. Everyone in my school does that. We all cheer when teachers are absent :)
