Today, I told the cute girl in my office that she looked like she listened to country music, as an icebreaker. She blankly stared at me for what felt like forever, and responded with, "That's the worst thing you could say to a person," and walked away. She hasn't talked to me since. FML

Its insulting because the only way somebody could "look like" they're into something is by exactly fitting the sterotype of that particular thing, stereotypes are never flattering and more often than not pretty insulting.

Maybe it is to some people, but I rather enjoy it. The true country that is, not the pop stuff they play nowadays. But I absolutely despise rap music, but I don't insult other for listening to it.

As a person that listens to country music, what exactly are you saying? Do boots equal country music? Does owning a horse equal country music? Does she carry a rope around? Does she have a large belt buckle? Does she drive a lifted truck with a cowboy hat on the dash? if not those then I'm not quite sure what you consider as "looking like you listen to country music"?
