yeah you look like a hillbilly redneck gal' what a compliment ;)) I love country music, reminds me of my Dad (bless him)..assumptions about someone's taste is way more than just presumptuous, I wouldn't want to talk to someone as bluntly superficial either..sorry OP but YDI
Next time try, "Hey, what kind of music do you like?". Sorry she took it so harshly though.
Clearly she doesn't like country music. But no, it's not the worst thing you can say to a person. Next time find a better icebreaker. You can ask one Monday if she had a nice weekend. Or commiserate over balky office equipment.
I like country
To Crushgonewrong... Country music is one of the best there is out there it had real emotions in it and it's tasteful... Find a girl who loves country! #stagecoach 2017
Flirting at work?! Never shit where you eat!
if she wanted a conversation with you she'd reply with something like "i don't like country, tho" or at least allow you to explain why you thought she liked country. Anyhow that's a horrid opener. Start with flattery, or complements, if you can. you'll almost always get a good response back, and maybe make her day a bit better, if nothing else.
She thinks that the worst thing you could say to someone is that they look like they like country music? I can think of far worse things that can be said to someone. I can understand if she's a little upset maybe because she doesn't listen to country music and OP's making an assumption about her but I find her reaction ridiculous. Next time OP, don't make assumptions. Ask someone what kind of music they like to listen to instead.

Well I kind of agree. Telling someone they "look like the kind of person who..." could easily be taken offensively.
She's not wrong.
