Today, I took my new iPhone into a technician to complain that when people called me, the audio was very quiet and muffled. Convinced it was a fault, I demanded a replacement. That is when he peeled off the factory issued protective screen that covered the ear piece. FML

Nothing wrong with people bringing products back for help, even for something seemingly obvious like this. But it's when they're 'sure it's a fault' and 'demand a refund/replacement' that they look like total idiots and end up causing conflict and ruining a salespersons day. Accept that you're not an expert and ask for help, don't be a wanker.

That's weird. They don't usually cover the earpiece. So technically, it is a fault.

At a stretch you could argue a fault with the screen cover but judging by the feedback on this page I'd wager the cover it comes with does indeed cover the speaker

People just aren't problem solvers now-a-days are they? I try to figure out on my own what's wrong with my phone before I take it to an IPhone store. I dropped my IPhone in peanut butter and screwed up the microphone and speaker but I figured out how to get the peanut butter out with rubbing alcohol. No point going to the iPhone store for things you can easily fix yourself.
