Today, I tried convincing my Valentine-hating boyfriend to send me a card, by explaining how important it is to me. He finally agreed and sent me a card. I opened it up, and it wished me 'harmony and well-being on Lupercalia'. What is Lupercalia? It's an ancient Roman festival where men run down the street naked, whipping people with goat skins to encourage fertility. FML

That's why you shouldn't force your boyfriend to do nice things for you. It won't happen (and with good reason).

I love him (in a non-homewrecker kinda way)!!

You want candy and flowers and he wants to get laid, sounds like a fair trade.

So... You are saying how much you want him to celebrate your holiday and you don't want to do the same for him? Really though, think about this. As much as you are upset about the card (which you obviously are since this is on FML) think about how genius he is being. Sending you a card about a holiday he knows you don't care about because you tried to pressure him into sending you a card for a holiday you know he doesn't care about? Genius.

I am in love with your boyfriend. Smart and funny? What a terrible life for you... You should be happy that he got you anything at all. Valentine's Day is a silly holiday.

I want to go to this "Lulpercalia" thing o.O who's down for the trip?! :D

I'm coming with you. Anyways, OP, YDI for encouraging a fake holiday... and yes, I did spend Valentines day alone. But it was because I don't like fake holidays... Thats why...

well that serves you right for trying to force him to do something he doesn't want

Aw, OP...FYL because you don't have a sense of humor & whine when things don't go exactly how you want them to go.
