Today, I tried shaving my bikini area for the first time. I ended up cutting myself several times. I now have impressive razor burn, and it's incredibly painful to even wear pants. FML

If your razor was dull that could have caused it- otherwise you should invest in higher quality razors and shaving cream. Your comfort is worth a few more dollars.

I always use a "lady shave". At least that's what it's called here. It's electric. I've never used a razor before & I also don't really think I ever will.

Shaving cream, a 3 blade razor, and lots & lots of practice...

... Why didn't you stop when you first cut yourself?

Never heard someone call it a "bikini area"

It's referred to as such because it's generally just the hairs that pop out and show when you're wearing a bikini that you remove!

Furthers my opinion that wearing pants is over rated.

If it was your first time OP you may have gone "against the grain" and from experience you never go against the grain of the hair ( only area on the body you can't) always go with the hair grain or you're entire bikini region will be red bumps and soar as hell!

I do both. I have shaved regularly for a few years now. I don't get nearly as bothered as I used to

Cutting while shaving down there is one of my biggest fears. Thankfully I've avoided it so far. It helps if you have a good razor with a flexible head. Do it Very slowly, and not in the shower the first few times. For now, just focus on keeping the area very clean and aired. So skirts are a plus for that, not just your comfort. Honestly, the hair is there for a reason (shaving being hygienic is a myth!), so never feel ashamed if you don't feel it's worth it to get rid of it.

I don't think I would wear pants... just basketball shorts. Boss: Why are you wearing those? Me: They are basically medicated.
