Today, I tried to get over my childhood phobia of syringes by donating blood. The phlebotomist hadn't even touched the needle before I started sobbing hysterically. They made me leave. FML

Just put some music on and tune it out. I hate needles too.. but when push comes to shove I can at least look away and think of something else.

OP. Take baby steps. or close your eyes and think of England. Giving blood is way to intense of a way to break out of a phobia of needles or seeing blood. Today, to cure my fear of heights I went sky diving... It was too late when I realized that the ripcord was on the left instead of the right. FML

Actually apparently OP didn't do too tell. In fact, OP failed.

nice attempt and brave, but sounds like u shouldve worked your way UP to that kind of experience. lol. therapist will help u do that if u really want to.

Wow all the people calling pussy I bet you have a phobia of something. A true phobia you can't get over, I can't enter a room with a spider visible in it, so my boss laughed at me for refusing to enter a room at work, till I reminded her she had screamed and jumped in a chair when she saw a mouse. I hate needles OP, I can work with them when it comes to animals but have a bad reaction if being used on me.

Yep, got a phobia of spiders too. And heights as well. Finally, someone I can relate to. :) If only it was in hobbies and not phobias, eh? Lawl.

Ha ha. You are irrational! Anyway, spiders are good. They stop all the other bugs from coming into your house. But if you don't like them then don't ever come to the English countryside.... the bastards are everywhere!! And I hate needles too... can't watch that one scene in Pulp fiction.. even the thought of it makes me cringe.

No I hate the spiders around here Brown.Recluses and Black widows are very popular. so I always have to keep an eye out. Well at least it's not a fear of something stupid, like peanut butter sticking to the roof of my mouth.

I feel for you! I hate needles too, good on you for trying!

36 is right. I had a severe needle phobia when I was younger, and I got over it exactly the same way. That, and getting tattoos. :D

106 A Phlebotomist is not a nurse.

Yup, a phlebotomist is something completely different from nurse. Phlebotomists draw blood and collect other certain body fluids and analyze them.
