Today, I tried to trim my dog's nails. After about a half hour of barking, biting, and general freaking out, I gave up and decided to pay someone else to do it. I'm a vet, and do this for a living. FML

You really nailed that one! Haha.. That was terrible.

She didn't say she didn't know how.. I think OP's dog would not cooperate with her.

Most vets have other people trim their dogs nails. It's not unusual.

Sedatives, man. I'm a vet tech and my boss sedated his dog for every nail trim. It's not worth the stress on the dog to try if he gets that worked up.

It's only because it's your dog so don't worry!

If I did it for a living I wouldn't want to do it at home lol. It's all good you got someone else to do it!

It's funny Becuase sometimes even though ur a vet tour own pet can be the worse I used to be a successful dog trainer but my do didn't listen worth a crap

That's the difference between life and your job

Oh my God you people are so ignorant. You think a pediatrician would be able to give their own child a shot without being a little upset? My coworker has been a Vet Tech for 10 years and she couldn't be in the room when we did a simple, 10 minute mass removal on her beloved pup. When it's your pet it's different. And pets owned by Vets can be some of the worst-behaving pets I've ever seen.

I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. As a vet, you probably know that every dog reacts differently. I have to take my dog to the vet to get her nails trimmed to. It usually takes three people, two of whom are grown men, to hold her down, and she's only a ten pound yorkie!
