Today, I was asleep and snored so loud that I woke myself up. I was at work and I am now the laughing stock of the office. FML

In some parts of Asia it is considered a great thing to fall asleep on the job because it means you were working so hard you got exhausted! Just use that as an excuse!

It's tough cuz we don't know OP's Life and maybe there was a good reason for being tired, but generally I think you may deserve it for falling asleep at work.

I can sympathise, I worked 18 hours with a half hour break at one job and had to go straight from there to the next job and almost fell asleep after a couple of hours, there's only so much that caffeine can do when your body is ready to drop. At least your boss is only laughing at you instead of firing you

I did this once in my Social class in high school. I rarely snore but this time I like snore grunted and woke myself up which made me suck in a bunch of air Darth Vader style. 13 Years later, and I still have friends who laugh about it.

Do yourself a favor and get checked out for sleep apnea. This sort of sleep disturbance can lead to narcolepsy as well, causing you to fall asleep any time. Snoring as badly as you do is a primary indicator of the condition. I suffer from this condition myself. Essentially you stop breathing every so many seconds and wake up enough to breathe. My doctor told me I was in the 90th percentile for this condition, that I stopped breathing and woke up ten times a minute all night long. As you can imagine, this is not very restful or restorative. Please have this checked :)

At least you didn't get in trouble for falling asleep

Duh, if you are gonna nap at work at least do it on the can.

Hey, OP here! To clarify on the situation I am a United States Marine. My unit is currently on a deployment and we are, what we call, RBE which means remain behind element. Being RBE means just basic upkeep of the shop and making sure necessary paperwork and other things of that nature are remaining up to speed. There was nothing to do that day and we were just sitting around in the shop. I fell asleep in my chair and with my head tilted back it caused me to snore. Also, nobody has forgotten it yet and they have begun to "snore" at me when they are around me, but its all in good fun.

I would go to the doctor and get checked for sleep apnea. Falling asleep randomly and snoring loudly are two of the main symptoms, especially if these things happen often, and/or you're overweight.
