Today, I was at a restaurant when I heard a young girl telling her father she didn't think she was pretty. When I got up to leave, I walked past her table and told her she was beautiful. Her dad then punched me in the face. FML

Today, I went out to eat at a restaurant. When the waitress saw me, she continously told me how beautiful and kind I was. Flattered, I just said thank you. Five minutes later, one of the ugliest girls I've ever seen in my life walked in. The waitress told her the same exact things she told me. FML

How is this 'kind of Pedo'? Do people even know what a goddamn paedophile is these days? There's a large difference between a child molester and a paedophile. Not that either are considered socially acceptable, but still, learn your terminology.

Oh no, poor guy. And just a little by-the-way to all you people who just want to see sexual connotations in EVERYTHING YOU SEEEE did you read that he had sex with her? touched her? interacted with her in any other way than a passing comment out the door? overprotective much? that was a bit over the top on the father's side... probably a reflex action? ..how young was the girl though..he probably thought you were some pedo trying to hit on his little kid.. so i would understand why he would punch you.. still that was mean! hope his punch wasnt that hard. :(

God it's so sad that compliments are taken like this these days. I mean sure, OP could have given some pretext or qualified his statement like "I couldn't help overhearing what you were saying earlier and I just wanted to say that I think you're a beautiful young lady" or something. But really, I think what he did was really sweet and unless he said it in a creepy tone of voice/winked/tried to touch her arm as he said it or something like that, there's nothing wrong with it. And the dad totally overreacted.

it's really impossible to be nice to people these days. my dad is an older guy and he loves kids, so one day we were at texas roadhouse and he smiles and waves at this little girl walking by with her dad and the dad gives him this "eat shit and die" look. we were all like wtf!? people suck. sorry dude :(
