Today, I was at a restaurant with my boyfriend. He wound up drinking a whole bottle of wine, and when the bill came he drunkenly yelled at the waiter, claiming it should be free, because he's in the military "fighting for your freedom". He's a mechanic in the National Guard. FML

Considering you have to put up with that kind of embarrassment, I hope they DID give you a free meal.

I think you misread. No one is talking about a free medal. Meal*

I hate it when I see other members of the force demand free stuff, I feel embarrassed when people pay for my meals, but demanding it? Especially from a weekend warrior that probably hasn't even seen the uglies of war...

Thank you for your service, I have many friends that have deployed w/ NG more than active duty members

You can tell so much about people by how they treat waitstaff at restaurants...

I have had many meals and the such bought for me while in uniform, but out of uniform, you have to remember that you are still a representative of the US armed forces. I can understand asking for a military discount, which most places have, but to demand something free... he needs to be shown what the army refers to as a "shark attack." Maybe that will teach him some manners

******* disgrace for us that are actually serving every day of our lives on ACTIVE duty ... Loser

National Guard still serves every day. I might not put a uniform every day but I still represent my state and my country every day. I have had to put my civilian life on hold numerous times due to military obligations. And yes, I have also deployed. I have seen just as many ate up active duty soldiers as I have national guard. So, get over yourself.

104- you are a complete embarrassment.

Are you serious? If he's not even active duty he's not risking anything. My boyfriend did three tours active duty in the army and is now in law enforcement... Get real what a loser

You obviously know very little to nothing about the military.. Kudos to your "boyfriend" he can do better.

Only douchebag military people do that! From a former Army, Navy and national guardsman that is the epitome of douchebaggery! Someone that uses the uniform to get free shit doesn't deserve to wear it!! Kick him in the balls and leave his dumb ass! Find a real soldier! Like an infantryman!
