Today, I was at a restaurant with my kids. I told my 13 year old about how the very first time she said she loved me. She was 2 and it was at this very restaurant. I told her the details and even started tearing up a little. She didn't even look up from her cell phone and said, "That's fab, ma." FML

I'm only a year older than OP's daughter, and I would have probably gushed all about it! :') Am I the only one who loves hearing stories about their childhood?

When I was 14 my father cried about how I was growing up (he rarely cries) and I was just stunned.

I hate my generation, so damn inconsiderate.

Just saying: a 13-year old girl could care less. I'm 13 and I wouldn't give a crap. And if she did she probably would have looked up.

Well you should care, I mean she pays for your phone bill, feeds you, puts a roof over your head (in a bad economy) and puts up with your teenage shit, you should at least acknowledge something that is important to her if she said something like that

Thumbs down for honesty, mine too please. Ugly truth but at 13 your not exactly enthralled with the lives of the people you spend practically every waking moment with, after you leave their house you start missing them and then you care more.

32- Regardless of how much you care, respect those who work every day to make your arrogant and pampered life possible. Do you have any idea how much money you've cost her? How much time she's spent on you when she could have be doing things for herself? How much effort she spends to keep your stupid ass happy? Its truly pathetic that entitled irritations like you are the future of the world.

She's a teenager! Don't expect much sentiment from them until they become a bit older. I'm so close to my mother now but feel like I wasted my teen days not letting her know how much she means to me. Just give your daughter space to grow. She loves you even if she doesn't show it at times.(:

I'm 13 and know how this works.. I doubt she heard you. Just repeat it, she will probably hear it the second time.

This is the reason why my parents didn't give me a phone until I was 16

Im 15 and I would never do that to my parents ! That's horrible

It's your fault for giving her a phone with texting in the plan. And a good parent would tell the girl to put the damn phone away when she's eating with her family. No remorse.

What is a 13 year old doing with a cell phone?
