Today, I was at my friend's house and accidentally blew out a candle that was supposed to be lit for seven days straight. It was in honor of her grandmother who had recently died. FML

Aw.. well, as long as it was accidental and you aren't an evil bitch running around blowing out candles in honour of your friends' dead relatives. Still though, that's unfortunate. Sorry.

How do you accidentally blow out a candle? Did s/he sneeze on it and accidentally put it out? There isn't any way to accidentally blow something. You either did or you didn't. I think OP did what most jerks do when they see candles lit in people's houses, blow it out and make it seem like it went out on it's own just to get a stupid laugh.

Maybe the OP thought they had accidentally left a lit candle out and thought it was a fire hazard... In any case, it was still an accident because the OP wouldn't have blown out the candle if s/he knew that it was lit in honor of the dead grandmother.

Wow.... for the last time.. Tweetbaby, the OP obviously did it but the OP didn't blow out the candle with an intention of being a dumbass or a bitch. The OP most likely thought the candle was lit because someone forgot to blow it out and it was a fire hazard, like saks said. The people who keep saying the OP either did it on purpose or not have such limited insight.

=( aaw. I'm sure it was an accident, lol from now on just to be safe ask before blowing out Any candle...even if its Glade...hmm I know you wished your friend had told you what it was for

They blew it out. You can't accidentally walk up to a candle and blow it out They made a mistake they should just own it.

******* dumbasses like you, marpay, piss me off saying how the OP did it with the intention of being a douchebag. An accident is something that is done without intention. If the OP knew the candle was a symbol for the dead grandmother, the OP would obviously have not have blown out the candle and there would not have been a FML.

Who the **** do you think you are blowing out a candle in someone's home? I hope the grandma goes paranormal activity on your ass

Common courtesy until the told him what the **** it was for.

who goes to peoples houses and takes it upon themselves to blow out any lit candles? do you tidy up while youre there too? rearrange their kitchen?

My friends actually lock up their silverware drawer cause of my OCD :(

a_nutritionist 10

lucky you, i wouldnt let you near my house...

BUT YOUR SILVERWARES ARE NOT SET UP RIGHT

a_nutritionist 10

my silverware is in my underwear drawer in a big pile, thats how its meant to be, right?

they might've... I'm assuming that at least the friend is Jewish seeing as it is the Jewish custom to light a candle for the 7 days immediately following the passing of an immediate relative... and during those seven days there are often close friends or other relatives looking after the house.... so you never know!!

Accidentally? Also, I've never seen a candle that wouldn't be a puddle of wax after 2 days of burning, how was this one going to last for 7?

You can put out a candle by running past it or by opening a window, OP didn't necessarily do it on purpose.. A large yankee candle will last 6.5 days continuously. OP also said 7 DAYS like daylight hours, it might be put out at night..

This actually sounds like something from Hindu tradition. The "candle" might be a little bowl with mustard/some other kind of oil in it, with a piece of cotton lit up. In this case they just need to keep refilling the oil to keep it burning. We do it for many occasions and rituals.

There are special candles for that, used by Jews on memorial days. Look up memorial candle Judaism on Google images.
