Today, I was at my friends' farm and we decided that we wanted to go to their old treehouse. When we got down there, it turned out my friend Cat had forgotten her shoes. Being a gentleman, I lent her my sandals. I then climbed the treehouse, fell out, and got a nail through my foot. FML

Today, while on the roof of my friend's house, I took a shortcut down by jumping onto the roof of his nearby shed. Not only did I go right through it and hurt my arm, I've also received several calls from my friend's dad, demanding I pay for the damage. FML

Today, I was at a family dinner, which had gone into meltdown after my aunt said something sarcastic about my mother's drinking. I went out for some fresh air and stumbled about in the dark, unaware of the fact that a pool was being dug. I fell into the huge hole and lost a shoe. FML

Today, I rescheduled my doctor's appointment for a tetanus shot to go camping with my friends. While running on a path at the camp site, I stepped on a rusty nail that went right through my shoe and into my foot. Maybe I should have kept my appointment. FML

Today, I was at my friend's birthday party, dancing barefoot because my feet hurt from my shoes' heels. Apparently, someone dropped a glass on the dancefloor and didn't warn anybody. I ended up having to drive myself to the emergency room because all my friends were "having too much fun to leave." FML

Today, I snuck out of the house to go to a party. When I got back later, I tried climbing back up the rope-ladder I'd set up earlier, leading back through my bedroom window. I was halfway up when it broke free. I sprained both my ankles and had to shamefully ring the doorbell to get back in. FML

Today, I was spending some time alone out in the countryside, when I glanced at my boot. I saw a snake, screamed, ran like hell for my car, tripped over my own feet, and smashed my kneecaps. Upon further inspection, I realized the "snake" was my loose shoelace. FML

Today, since I was grounded, I tried to sneak out of my room to attend a party by climbing out the second-storey window and down the tree. I was unharmed, but I probably should have checked to see if my dad was in the garden before climbing down. FML

Today, I was feeling stressed about some upcoming exams, so I went on a nice relaxing nature walk through the nearby bushland. I slipped off a rock and landed in knee-deep mud that claimed my shoe when I pulled my leg free. I'm even more stressed now. FML

That sucks man! I'm sorry. Sure, a sandal wouldn't stop the nail, but it would slow it down and the nail wouldn't have gone into your foot as deeply. I know it hurts, I have been there. Did she at least sit with you? If I were her, I'd at least help you out by bringing you stuff for the next day or so, if you're hobbling like I did!

yea i agree with what the others said, how do you walk somewhere, and when you finally get there THEN realize you forgot your shoes? it makes no sense... someone would have noticed... but anyways that sucks, good for you for being nice!!! and i think the sandal would have helped a little... depends on the type of shoe...

its not stupid that she didnt realize she forgot her shoes, if you go barefoot alot you dont think about that kinda thing. she lives on a farm she probably always walks around barefoot alot, then when they got their she probably was like "oh. I should probably have some shoes on to climb up there." OP, I'm really sorry to hear about your foot. I hope that you have a speedy recovery. That was nice of you to offer her your shoes.
