Today, I was at Walmart walking around when I slipped on some water and twisted my ankle. As I was getting up, a man came up to me and said, "There's some water on the floor, watch out." FML

Your fall could be incredibly profitable if you sue everyone indiscriminately.

I would of been like : no shit Sherlock didn't need a detective to figure that out.

A bit too late for the warning, don't ya think? Hahaha. Hope your ok!

The store has the legal responsibility to keep their customers free of hazards. It is in no way the customer's fault they slipped on water on the floor, and if you really think it is, I hope one day you are in the same spot...then you will regret your words...

It's the customers fault if a wet floor sign was in place.

One thing: OP was not a customer. OP worked in the store. So really, it's everyone's responsibility to keep the place clean for the customers and to avoid creating a hazard. Because no one, including OP did that, they're all to blame.

Where does it say that the OP works in the store?

Brian - My mistake. I thought it said "I was at Wal-Mart working when..."

He was just trying to help. I swear, people like you, OP, are so inconsiderate.

For all of the people yelling sue: As a former Loss Prevention Officer [they kind of guys who handle these issues in store] you do have a potential case, IF, there was no signage in the area stating the floor was wet - AND - you would need to inform the store and fill out forms (which if you didn't is pretty dumb because you can't prove it happened in the store, otherwise). If you did fill out the forms there is no use lying about a hazard sign because it would have been investigated immediately afterwards. If you filled out the forms AND there was no signs you would be able to sue the store, but, don't expect to get some amazing large reward, you'll end up recouping the cost of medical bills, maybe a little bit more.
