Today, I was babysitting two brothers, 3 and 5. As I was getting the youngest ready to go outside, the older boy, threw open the door, shucked his clothing, and ran off into the woods. I had to carry the 3-year-old as I ran my asthmatic ass after him. FML

Hi, OP here. I'm not gonna just tell you their names, so I hope you realize that 3 and 5 are their ages. And a leash would have been a very good thing to have for this kid. He's a wild little kid alright. Lucky for me his brother, the 3 year old, likes me so he doesnt do stuff like this. And yeah, I live way way up north, and their house is nestled in the woods so it's a struggle to keep them out of it.

This makes me think of Calvin from Calvin and Hobbes. Like the time he melted into a puddle became a cloud, rained down and reformed and ran off nude. And his mom is picking up his clothes saying "Not again!"

You should've told the kid that old story, "Goldilocks and the Three Pedo-Bears." No more naked runs in the woods!

Humm.. I guess a lesson here have them kiddos while you have plenty of energy!

Next time lock the door it may not stop the kid but it might so the kid down enough so you can catch the kid before the kid gets too far lol just feel luck the kid didn't drive a car into a snow bank cause that's what my sister did at that age need less to say my parents never left the car on again when my sister was in the car alone lol

He's an attention seeker in a negative way. Maybe if you set some goals with short time span, say 30 minutes or an hour, with rewards for good behaviour it would motivate him to listen. For example: if he plays with his toys and doesn't do anything naughty for an hour, he can watch some cartoons or something like that.

#22: With all due respect, have you ever been a parent? Or even a babysitter of little kids? Goals i.e., bribes, beyond 10-15 mins in the near future don't work, so 30-60 mins are simply not feasible. If they can't do what they want immediately, they scream/ cry incl. during a timeout.... :-(

I don't know if I would describe this kid as a negative attention seeker based on just one incident. My brother did shit like this, without any real goal in mind- he was just ADD as **** when he was younger (he still is, but he stopped streaking around 6 years old).

Puhahaha I'm a mother of two boys age 10 and 15. Besides that I've been a nanny for years. So yes, I do know what I'm talking about. I only resort to (non physical) punishment if all else fails. My children are well behaved and we have a solid mutual trust.

Sounds like my son and nephew... bless your heart

He'll probably stop that when it gets colder? But... maybe not, boys be crazy!
