jailofc tells us more.
Hey everyone I am the OP, I am a CO at a very "nice" jail as I like to think, we treat our inmates with respect as long as they show respect back ( I didn't mean to start a political debate here haha). Basically, I thought it was stupid to be bitched out about my "customer service" because that is a very strange thing to say about a jail, where SAFETY and SECURITY should be priority. And frankly, I don't believe my *accused* criminals should be served in any other way besides providing safety and security.

Today's jails hug a thug treatment is a serious problem. Jails are being sued and going bankrupt because of this idea. the idea is that officers are not allowed to punish on the spot as offenders commit rule breaking actions in the jail. And that is causing serious security risk! All because of due process over rule infractions in a jail...
Poor choice of words from your supervisor...however I think you can guess she's saying "stop being so damn rude".
Just because someone is in jail doesn't mean you can treat them like shit. I'm sure they feel shitty enough.
You still need to treat them with respect. Your supervisor probably meant "Quit being so rude or someone will report us as being abusive to inmates". They're still humans.
Treat them with respect? Seriously? They didn't show any to the law so why should they get any? They're in jail! If they behave themselves in jail, they usually get rewarded. But generally they don't give a ****. And if they're in jail for being a child rapist or cold blooded murder, they don't deserve any respect from anybody.
There's a difference between bring treated nicely and being treated with respect. I get your point but respect isn't the right word.
Well OP, you really should smile as you're strip searching them!
And that means you should treat the inmates poorly? First, you're only causing issues and creating a bad situation if you're mistreating prisoners. Secondly, they're paying for their crime, where do you get off mistreating them? Lastly, regardless of where you are, work or otherwise, people should be treated with respect until they lose it through their own actions. You deserve the reprimand.
