giving tips is very common in the US but condisered an insult in other countries but it is ALWAYS OPTIONAL as a pizza guy it is very common to get tips b/c of gas all u can do besides complain is remember the address and NEVER GO BACK tell another driver to do it
The company is required to reimburse delivery drivers for gas and oil (which is why most pizza parlors have a delivery fee), tips go directly into their pockets.
for those saying that they don't have to tip, those delivery charges don't really cover gas and wear and tear. those tips offset the cost because delivery drivers drive their own vehicles.
Well, It's official, FML wont let me reply.
stop complaining and do your job
If you can't afford to tip the delivery guy, get off your lazy ass and drive there at your own expense (not to mention you'll have to pay extra anyway for delivery. If you can barely afford it, don't get it.) As other people said, delivery guys use their own cars for their jobs and some don't get gas from their employer. While OP's customer was not required to tip, it's rude not to, and it's almost insulting to just get 21 cents.
Yes, but at the same time, all, or at least a majority, of the delivery fee goes to the driver. I'm a waitress at a pizza place, so I see these boys leaving work at the end of the night with well over two hundred dollars. And btw, what does it matter if it's raining ? There's a reason they have cars...it's not like they're riding around on bikes delivering pizzas in the rain.
no. not all or most of the fee goes to the driver. I work at a pizza hut and the fee is $2.50. I get $0.91 out of that.
That instantly sucks. I got pizza last night and tipped $10 because the gate at my apartments didn't open correctly.
PLEASE, read before you respond. It's getting ridiculous. GEEZUS.

They're not actually obliged to give you a tip, be happy you got something.
